Day 5: Confessions of a Mildly Unwell Book Hoarder

Hello to anyone who is reading this:

Today was very, very long. I am once again exhausted, but at least I was productive.

I managed to comment on around 40 papers today, which means there are only 27 more to go… please send help.

In an attempt to feel like a functioning human being, I also cleaned my patio and reorganized my bookshelves today in preparation for the spring. Fresh air. Organization. The faint suggestion that I have control over my life.

However, during this process I discovered slightly troubling: I may be a book hoarder.

Naturally, I decided to downsize. Which worked a little too well, because now there is empty space on my shelves and that feels wrong! Bookshelves should not have empty space. That is suspicious behavior.

In theory, I could take the books I don’t need anymore to my most trusted bookseller and get store credit (she has an incredible collection, by the way). But the problem is… these are my babies! How can I get rid of them?

So now I’m sitting in my living room holding books and whispering “to be or not to be” like a slightly unwell librarian.

Anyways….I should probably get back to grading. Cheers!

20 days left until the quarter ends.
